Voicetracking:Making It Sound Like and Local
by Bob Pickett
KASE
Wow! The room was packed and we delivered with the experts on voicetracking. Scott Michaels from WKKG Columbus, Indiana, Justin Case from WZZK Birmingham, Alabama and Josh Brandon from WOWF Crossville, Tennessee pointed the audience in the right direction for voicetracking. The key points were how to save time, the correct way to prep for each show and most important- how to make it sound live and local for your station. Fifty minutes was probably too short for this panel. It could have lasted at least another thirty minutes with the questions from the attendees. Each panelist offered different insights on how they prepare for tracking their shows or shifts. It was a very informative panel and one that could be expanded on for CRS 40. The smaller markets seemed to really enjoy the panel.
Each panelist came up with 15 to 20 essentials of voicetracking and we narrowed down the list to a handout of "The 30 Essentials of Voicetracking".
