THE CHARTS AND BEYOND

A lot had changed in the two years since the last CRS panel that had dealt with the charts, so 2008's "Charts and Beyond" panel was eagerly anticipated, as evidenced by the nearly packed room.   Attendees gathered to hear R&R/Billboard's Wade Jessen and Country Aircheck's Lon Helton discuss their respective charts, and were also treated to moderator Jaye Albright's perspective on how charts originated and evolved into their present states.   Despite the fact that BigChampagne.com's Joel Fleischer was unable to attend and give his input regarding the new generation of charts measuring digital media, it was clear that this panel's only shortcoming was the fact that it could have easily run well past its allotted hour!
