Interviewing is an art and not an easy one to master. Many of today’s radio professionals feel they know how to interview, but you’d be surprised at how many of these same professionals haven’t mastered the basics of a good interview. With new PPM markets announced every week, it’s imperative that you don’t waist the listener’s time with interviews or questions they don’t care about. We will give you the perspective of a great interview from some of the best in our business, including the artist’s perspective. We will cover where to go to prep for the interview, you’ll hear directly from a country artist on what they like/don’t like about being interviewed and how to make your interviews the best they can be. You may think you are a great interviewer and have logged tons of artist interviews; but you may be surprised at some of the most common mistakes an interviewer can make. Bob Guerra from New Music Nashville will moderate a panel of interviewing experts including Blair Garner from After Midnite, Rick “Bubba” Taylor from KUPL, Sharla McCoy from McCoy and Associates, Garret Doll from KYGO, and RCA Recording Artist Craig Morgan will give his side of what makes an interview great. His tips may surprise you. With as many interview opportunities as we have today, this is one panel you won’t want to miss. We promise you’ll walk away a better interviewer and that will turn into better ratings and more credibility for you and your station.
