How do I get to be that guy, indeed! It was great to get a glimpse inside the heads of three of the most successful people in the radio and record industry; Butch Waugh, Mike Peterson and J D Cannon, not to mention throwing in a great moderator in RJ Curtis. The panelists shared a number of stories from their formative years and passed on to all attending the wisdom that comes from experience.
If you missed the tech track's first year, then you're probably on your dial up modem on your Commodore 64 computer on prodigy… ;) Seriously, the overwhelming feedback we got was that all the panels were GREAT and if anything, it needs to be included and maybe even expanded next year.
I always learn so much from CRS. Every year I bring so much back with me and it always helps improve my station, our company and my management style. One thing is for certain: I don't have all the answers.
Wow! The room was packed and we delivered with the experts on voicetracking. Scott Michaels from WKKG Columbus, Indiana, Justin Case from WZZK Birmingham, Alabama and Josh Brandon from WOWF Crossville, Tennessee pointed the audience in the right direction for voicetracking.
John and I were very happy with the attendance of this panel. Just about every seat was filled and it was a great sign that women play a huge role in the country format and there is willingness to learn how to better please their radio tastes.
I would like to take the time and thank everyone affiliated with and responsible for the Country Radio Seminar. This event has made a huge impact on me as an artist and writer. This was my first year to attend and I would have to say it has been the most valuable investment I've made through my years here in Nashville.
CRS 39 was fantastic. Did all that really happen in 3 1/2 days? Highlights galore. From the DJ & Radio Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Ceremony to Garth's surprise full band performance to hot topic sessions about PPM and performance rights fees.
There are major change occurring on the media landscape and if you don't get on board, you WILL be left behind. Come to CRS 39 and participate in an interactive workshop. I have been in radio sales for over 25 years.
