DUGG
COLLINS Dugg
Collins is a much awarded air personality who spent
most of his career in Amarillo, TX. Collins began his
radio career at KTCX Childress, TX in 1959 and worked
in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to Amarillo in
1968 to work at KBUY and KDJW. He was an active performer
from age fifteen and was given the name Dugg in 1969
by the producer of his first recording session, Johnny
Paycheck. Collins was named Music Director of the Year
by Record World Magazine in 1976. He won the Country
Music Association’s DJ of the Year award in 1979.
In 1996, he was inducted into the Texas Panhandle Association
of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Dugg Collins was inducted
into the Country Music D J Hall of Fame in 1996. In
1999 Collins joined KFDI, Wichita, KS, replacing fellow
Country Music D J Hall of Famer Mike Oatman, and he
remains on the air there. He was inducted into the
Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
