MARTY
SULLIVAN Marty
Sullivan (born Marion Ralph Sullivan, Jr, Peoria, IL
1935) was a longtime Country radio air personality
and Program Director. Sullivan started in radio in
his hometown and then worked in Des Moines, IA, Denver
Co, and El Paso, TX, where he also worked in television.
From there he went to Greenville, NC and Dallas, TX.
He was named the Country Music Association’s
Medium Market Disc Jockey of the Year in 1977, while
working at KWKH, Shreveport, LA. Shortly after winning
this award, Sullivan joined KNEW San Francisco, CA
where he remained for sixteen years. In 1992, he returned
to KWKH AM & FM as Operations Manager. In 1997,
he became Program Director of KPOD, Crescent City,
CA. He worked closely with the March of Dimes, the
Walnut Creek Athletic Association in California and
Operation Santa Claus in Shreveport. Sullivan passed
away on April 21, 1998. Marty Sullivan was inducted
into the Country Music D J Hall of Fame in 1998.
