DANDELION
SEESE “Dandalion” (Gwyneth
Seese), whose air name came from her misspelling of
dandelion, was known as the most awarded female in
Country radio. Her first radio job was at WVPO, Stroudsburg
PA (1952-1955). She then left radio until joining WHOL,
Allentown PA (1973-1977). Because of a book of trucker
humor that she had written, “Tijuana Bear in
a Smoke ‘Um Up Taxi”, Dandalion was asked
to substitute for Big John Trimble on WRVA, Richmond,
VA (1978). In 1979 she left a career as a government
postal worker to work fulltime in radio at WIOV, Ephrata
PA (1979-1981) and was then hired for overnights at
WRKZ Z-Country/WCAT-FM (1981-2002). Her awards include
1989 Academy of Country Music Disc Jockey of the Year,
1992 Gavin Music Director of the Year, 1993 Billboard
Music Director of the Year, 1996 Billboard Air Personality
of the Year, 1997 Gavin Music Director of the year.
