TED
CRAMER Ted
Cramer was an air talent on many of the most successful
and visible Country radio stations and a legend in
the Kansas City, MO market, where he spent the majority
of his career. Kramer first played Country music on
KIMO, Independence, MO, which served the Kansas City
market. In 1957 he was a radio and television personality
at another suburban station KFEQ AM/TV in St Joseph,
MO. In 1958 he brought KCKN, Kansas City, MO back to
Country, pioneering the “Countrypolitan” format.
In 1961 Ted was appointed Program Director of WTAP
AM/FM, Parkersburg, WV, but retuned to KCKN the following
year and signed on Country formatted KCKN-FM. In 1969
Cramer switched WUBE, Cincinnati, OH to a Country format.
In 1974 he was hired as Program Director of WWOK, Miami
FL. In 1977 he returned to Kansas City, MO to change
WDAF to a Country format. In 1980 Ted was appointed
Program Director of co-owned WTVN, Columbus, OH. In
1981, he joined WMAQ, Chicago, IL as Program Director.
In 1987 Ted was appointed Program Director of WKY,
Oklahoma City, OK. In 1987, he was appointed Program
Director of co-owned WSM, Nashville, TN. In 1992, he
returned to WDAF, Kansas City, MO. Ted Cramer was inducted
into the Country Music D J Hall of Fame in 1999. Ted
currently host the Country Legends show Saturdays 6:00
am - 10:00 am on KFKF-FM, Kansas City, MO.
