DUCHESNE
In
1986, Bob signed on WQCB-FM in Bangor Maine, where
he remained until his retirement from radio in 2003.
His morning show reached number one within two years,
and remained in that spot for 18 of the next 22 rating
periods.
Bob began his career in 1972 as a part time air talent in Waterville, Main while
attending college. He began on a full time basis the day after his graduation,
and within months was promoted to morning drive. He followed his wife’s
government career to Washington, where he worked at WMZQ from 1980 to 1985, becoming
Music Director. He was CMA Small Market Personality of the Year in 1994, Maine
Broadcaster of the Year in 2001 and inducted into the MAB Hall of Fame.
He was a member of the Country Radio Seminar Agenda Committee from 1994-1997
and served on the Country Radio Broadcasters Board from 1996-2002. His many community
service contributions include serving on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers/Big
Sisters, Maine Audubon Chapter, Brewer Economic Development Corporation, Maine
Association of Broadcasters and was the United Way of Eastern Maine Marketing
Chair. He raised over $100,000 for the Pine Tree Camp of Children and Adults
with Disabilities through an event he created, “The Pine Tree Camp Egg
Ride”.
